Art Basel 2008
This really isn’t about Art Basel, because this year, I chose to take a look at some of the shows taking place in the vicinity.
The first place we visited was Aquaart. Here is my friend, artist Terre Rybovich, entwined in a sculpture.
Just wandering around, not trying to learn anything, but simply enjoying the art was a pleasurable experience for me. Usually, I’m either on call or on a mission.
I wasn’t the only one having a good time. One family brought two little boys who literally took an active part in the art.
The playful piece above included 100s of little plastic creatures rushing around – something I was NOT doing this day. See me, below, following the example of the two little boys, and getting up close and personal with the “works.” Having a good time surrounded by Japanese fur creatures with mirror eyes, I snapped my picture as they see me. That’s Terre again in the background… We went on to visit Scope and Red Dot. Can’t wait for the next fairs coming to West Palm Beach in the next two months! I’ll be sure to tell my visitors staying with me at Travelers Palm to enjoy artful experiences right next door!
